Major Turn-Offs When Dating

  • April 13, 2022

Dating is a gambling game. Whichever way you decide to date cause either makes or breaks your relationship. You being naturally you may be a major turn off when dating. There are ways to date and navigate the dating life. Whether you’re dating one person or dating multiple people there are ways to date that keep people interested in you and your dating experience.

What are major turn-offs when dating?

Being needy/clingy

When dating you are still getting to know each other. You don’t want to be known for your neediness. You want to show that you are steady within your self which then makes you a suitable partner.  When you show that you need dependence this might chase your potential partner away, no one wants to feel as though they have a child to cater to constantly. The thought alone is a turn-off.

Always talking about yourself

Dating is about knowing each other, if getting to know each other seems to be one-sided it’s a sign that you are probably dating the wrong person.  Dating only exposes how the relationship will be but on a smaller scale. You have to ask yourself whether this is something you can live within the long run. Long at it from this point of view may result in the situation being a turn off.

Flexing materials

As much as it is good and nice to be proud of your hard work, it is not necessary. Showing off money or materials in the early stages only throws people off. Your materials are not who you are. If someone is constantly flexing, whichever person they end up with probably fell in love with what they saw and not the person. 9/10 times these relationships have no depth.

Talk about all your options

It is natural and normal for people to have people like them but holding it up as a trophy or as a way to get people to act right is a red flag. A person who does this clearly needs validation from others and if they are not wanted by someone they see it as a problem. Liking yourself should be people’s first priority and people on the outside’s validation should be unnecessary. Dating a person like this will lead to multiple threats about how they can do better.

Unavailability/Nonchalant

Unavailability is relative to a person’s occupation and simply how their everyday schedules are lined up. Even with that, the busiest people also want to put in the effort with the people their dating. If you don’t feel any effort being put into dating, you should probably leave and put your focus elsewhere. Nonchalant people are not people you want to commit and settle down with. Everyone deserves someone who genuinely cares, even about the small things. If someone is nonchalant when courting you, it will be worse when they have you.

How to avoid people with major turn-offs when dating?

The best way to avoid people with such turn-offs is to simply express your boundaries and standards at the beginning of your dating relationship. Most people would come forward and admit they simply cannot change themselves. If a person offers to tone down such behaviours give them the chance to.

If you are less patient with such behaviours simply remove yourself from people who act this way. It’s much easier to do when you notice it the first time. Once you wait a while to see whether or not you saw the red flag, it has become a habit.
